Volcasa International tile exporter website
A Dynamic Web Platform for a Global Tile Exporter
A Dynamic Web Platform for a Global Tile Exporter

Volcasa International is an organization based out of Morbi, Gujarat that deals with the manufacture and export of glazed digital vitrified tiles, porcelain slabs, wooden porcelain strips and wall tiles to over 35 countries worldwide such as USA, Canada, UK, Israel, Lebanon, Vietnam, Russia, South Africa and many others. Since it is a company involved in tiles trade and exports, its website was required to be able to do more than just display their products; it was needed to showcase their design qualities and also establish trust with the international clientele who might contact them at odd hours.

Our Approach

01. UI/UX Sharing

Our first step was sharing UI/UX principles with the Volcasa team, tailored to showcase their tile selections, size variations (from small-sized 300x450 to larger-sized 1200x2400 slabs), and exporting credibility – created to be premium, visually-led, as is typical for the products that represent the essence of design.

02. Design Approval

All designs were reviewed and officially approved by the client prior to entering the development phase, to make sure that the visual style would meet Volcasa's brand/product expectations.

03. Static or Dynamic — Which One to Choose?

The initial request of our client was to create a static website. While we were discussing how to do this best, we advised Volcasa to opt for a dynamic site architecture instead – meaning that all product listings, category pages, and other website content could be managed by both the frontend and backend interface without the need to involve a developer in each update.

04. HTML Approval

The approved designs were then coded in HTML to ensure that the layouts, responsiveness, and content structuring were accurate prior to starting the backend coding process.

05. Design Integration

The approved designs were then uploaded and integrated into the live template structures to bring the product catalog, size chart, and export maps to life.

06. Admin Panel Development

A custom admin panel was developed in order to fulfill the dynamic design aspect where the Volcasa team is able to manage their website independently and without any technical assistance from our team.

07. Share with Client for Review and Final Approval

The website which is already developed completely in terms of frontend and admin panel has been shared with the client for one last review and approval.

08. Go-Live and Backend Maintenance

After the final approval from the client, the site is launched live at volcasainternational.com. The backend maintenance of the website will be done by DevConex after launching the website.

The Challenge

Volcasa's original brief called for a basic static site that could act as an online brochure, presenting their product range and its availability in different sizes for export markets. However, having a static website means that each product update, design change or catalog update should be made by a developer, something that is not efficient for a company exporting products on a regular basis.

DevConex faced two tasks:

  • Create a visually appealing website in line with Volcasa's positioning as a premium "fabulous & futuristic" tiles brand
  • Steer the customer towards a more sustainable long-term solution than the one initially proposed, without delaying the process

Outcome

Volcasa International has now been provided with a website platform that not only complements the high-end nature of their tile portfolio but also allows the internal team the ability to update their catalog independently without relying on a developer. By opting for a dynamic build over the initially requested static build, the company is able to ensure that the platform grows alongside their growing exports business.

Carlos Arellano

We finally have a brand and website that reflects the quality of what we build. The logo feels like it's always existed, the website converts, and our trade partners take us more seriously because of how we present ourselves.
