Planko SPC flooring manufacturer website
A Dynamic Web Platform for an SPC Flooring Manufacturer & Exporter
A Dynamic Web Platform for an SPC Flooring Manufacturer & Exporter

Planko is a company based in Morbi (Gujarat), India, that manufactures and exports SPC flooring (click lock and glue down tiles & planks). Their products cater to residential as well as commercial applications both within and outside India. Being a manufacturing company who considers itself "India's largest SPC flooring tiles manufacturer and exporter," Planko required a website that would be able to reflect the technical expertise and export capability to its potential buyers around the world. This was achieved through an association between DevConex and Planko.

Our Approach

01. Shared UI/UX

Our initial work involved shared UI/UX ideas, focusing on the presentation of Planko's SPC flooring collections and product attributes like impact resistance, scratch resistance, waterproofness, ease of installation, etc., along with their use cases in bedrooms, offices, hospitals, kitchenettes, and retail – all designed to feel premium and tech-savvy.

02. Approval of Designs

All designs were approved by the client prior to going into development, to ensure that the visual identity was aligned with Planko's brand and presentation requirements.

03. Static or Dynamic? — Our Advice

The initial requirement from the client was for a static site. However, during the planning stage, we advised our client to go with a dynamic database-backed design, allowing product collections, specs, catalogs, and blogs to be edited right through frontend and backend. This way, Planko would have an opportunity to expand its SPC flooring lines, post new blog articles, and edit exporting/packing info.

04. HTML Approvals

The next step in the process after design approval involved creating the HTML that was to be approved by the client as part of confirming the layout, responsiveness, and overall content structure prior to commencing the backend development work.

05. Design Upload

The approved designs and assets were then uploaded to live in the template structure of the website, bringing together the product collections, features page, usage gallery, and testimonials just as designed.

06. Admin Panel Development

To ensure that the site could operate dynamically according to the requirements of the project, an admin panel was created, allowing the Planko team full control of their website without requiring any technical assistance, including being able to manage products, catalogues, technical specs, packaging, and blog content.

07. Send to Client for Approval

At this point, the complete site, frontend and backend, was sent over to the client for approval prior to its deployment to production status.

08. Live Website & Backend Support

Upon receiving approval from the client, the website went live at wintelsurfaces.com. DevConex provided backend support services after the deployment of the site.

The Challenge

Planko's first brief was for a plain static website, all that they needed to do is post about their collections and company details on the internet. However, a static website would mean that every new collection, catalogue, specification, and blog article will need a developer's intervention; something that would be counterproductive for a growing manufacturer and exporter.

There were two aspects of the challenge for DevConex:

  • Provide a professional, credibility-focused website that will portray Planko in the right light of a manufacturer and exporter and not a mere catalog website that covers specifications, packaging information, and export information
  • Push the client towards a more sustainable approach than what they have initially requested for without compromising on timeframes

Outcome

The new Planko website is designed to convey the firm’s positioning as a major player in manufacturing and exporting, at the same time affording the internal staff sufficient freedom to maintain the freshness of products and specifications, as well as content, without reliance on a developer for updates. Suggesting that the dynamic build be used instead of the requested static site allowed Planko to create a system which would be able to evolve with the company.

Tom Pritsky

Working with DevConex was a pleasure! They delivered the project in a timely and effective manner, and went above and beyond the requirements, proposing a well-designed UI/UX that elevated our app to the next level. They were tasked with integrating on-device speech-to-text functionality and delivered a stable implementation that is currently being tested by users. The team is always available for consultation and on-demand requests, and is highly motivated to do a great job. We haven't found another development partner with the same balance of effort, skill, and ease of communication.
